Prof Irini Angelidaki

Biography

Title of the speech: Biogas: An important process of the Bioeconomy

Irini Angelidaki (IA), PhD is Professor at DTU with wide expertise in the area of biofuels (biogas, biohydrogen, bioethanol) production, optimization of the anaerobic processes and development of sustainable solutions for organic waste and wastewater treatment. She has more than 300 scientific publications, (>177 ISI publications); >5 patents. She has been member of the editorial board in 3 international biotechnological/environmental journals. She has served in several national and international committees and worked with a range of organizations and research bodies. Examples hereof are: the Danish Research Council (Free Research Council; Research for Technology and production, FTP); the Swedish Danish Research Formas, the European Research Council’s (ERC) panel, for starters/consolidators for the Life Science program (LS9), the Swedish Research Council (VR) Panel 7uncil. She is a member of the managing committee of the AD Specialist Group IWA. She has the last 20 years coordinated/participated in a large number of projects financed both from EU and from national funding.

Irini Angelidaki is coordinator of the Bioenergy Group at DTU Environment an active and dynamic research group working in the following areas: Biogas, Biofuels, Microbial Electrochemistry, Algae as bioresource and Biorefineries.
